Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Services

 

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association Inc. (JHAAA) is the exclusive 911 emergency ambulance provider for the communities of Jefferson Hills Borough, Union Township, Forward Township and West Elizabeth Borough. Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance covers a geographical area of approximately 58 square miles.

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance also provides mutual aid 911 ambulance service for our neighboring communities throughout the Mon Valley region, in parts of Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland Counties.

 

Emergency 9-1-1 Services and Interfacility Transport Services

Our ambulances are fully equipped and staffed by Paramedic's, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and PHRN's (Pre Hospital Registered Nurses). Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance provides ambulance service 7-days a week, 24-hours per day, to our primary municipalities, contracted facilities and to our neighboring communities.

All ambulances are licensed and inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Emergency Medical Service Institute (EMSI), to certify that all of our vehicles, staff and equipment, meet or exceed the set standards of the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

 

Community Services and Special Events

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance is a "Neighbors Helping Neighbors", "Community Oriented" service provider. We have been actively participating in the communities we serve since 1976.

Whether our service is participating with organizations such as local community endeavors, partnering with the Mon River Fleet Flu Vaccine Initiative for the past 10 years or our involvement with local youth groups and preschools, Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance continues to work hard to expand our community relationships and commitment to both our residents that we serve and to the visitors of our communities.

We provide community CPR and First Aid education, along with public and private sector awareness programs to all aspects of the communities we proudly serve.

 

Emergency 9-1-1

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance responds Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, to approximately 6,000 emergency calls a year providing emergency medical ambulance services when dispatched through the Allegheny County and Washington County 911 Communication Centers.

Responses to these incidents are throughout the 4 municipalities within our coverage area, along with providing mutual aid to our surrounding neighboring communities, with a fleet of 6 fully equipped Advance Life Support (ALS) ambulances and 1 Advance Life Support Squad that meet and/or exceed state and federal requirements.

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance responds one or more Advanced Life Support units, to a variety of Emergency 911 calls for requests involving the ill or traumatically injured patient . We uphold the highest safety standards and practices and treat each patient with dignity and respect.

Our service utilizes state-of-the-art medical equipment, communication devices and advanced technology to manage quality pre-hospital health care, which includes but are not limited to:

  • All forms of Pre-Hospital Basic and Advanced Life Support Care

  • Cardiac Monitoring / STEMI Management

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support

  • Advanced Stroke Life Support

  • Advanced Burn Management Life Support

  • Advanced Airway Management

  • Intravenous Therapy / Intraosseous infusion technology

  • Medication Administration

  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Management

  • Inter facility transportation of the critically ill or traumaticaly injured

Our ambulances are staffed by Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics and Health Care Professionals (PHRN's) who are certified and licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and who also meet the accredited standards as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

 

Non-Emergent Transportation:

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association Inc. offers a more affordable, alternative means of specialty Non-Emergent medical transportation in addition to Emergency ambulance transportation. Our Wheel Chair Vans and Invalid Coach vehicles are staffed by providers specially trained in non-emergency transportation and/or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's).

Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association supports a non-emergency transport division to provide scheduled trips to hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics and discharges from the hospital. The 5 units are staffed by Coach Specialists and provides service Monday through Saturday during the hours of 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, in addition, Jefferson Hills EMS crews continue this service 24/7. Requests for service should be made at 412-384-0114.

Our staff is trained to deliver quality transportation and provide professional, courteous service and patient care. Our Non-Emergency Transportation is available for local and long distance transports and can accommodate clients requiring either a wheelchair or stretcher, which ever service meets the medical needs of the patient.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation is available to the residents of our communities that we serve, our contracted facilities, as well as our neighboring communities for any purpose such as but not limited to:

  • Hospital Discharge / Admissions

  • Dialysis Treatment Transports

  • Inter-Facility Transfers

  • Doctor, Dentist, or Eye Appointments

  • MRI, Radiology and Radiation Appointments

 

Transportation Scheduling:

To schedule a wheelchair or stretcher / invalid coach transport for any of the above mentioned examples, please call our:

If you call after our normal business hours, on a weekend or holiday, your call will automatically be transferred to the phone number for the on duty Supervisor to contact our crews directly to schedule a transport.

It is recommended that you make transport arrangements 48 hours in advance of the date being requested to insure a crew will be available for your needs
